Human emotions rule practically every aspect of our lives. Understanding the role they play in virtually everything and learning to control them is one of the ways to understand the connection they have to fat loss. Do you feel as if you are pounding your head against a brick wall when it comes to losing the weight you need to lose? Controlling your emotions is one of the ways you can learn how to manage your sugar.
Emotions are Key to Controlling Diabetes and Weight Loss
Emotions have a major impact on sugar levels in the body. When you experience emotional swings or are more stressed the result is a spike in sugar. This, in turn, causes the body to need more insulin. The more insulin your body contains, the harder it is to lose weight.
The bad part is it does not matter what type of stress you are undergoing. It may be physical, due to your environment or even imagined stress. They all cause cortisol to be released. This chemical is directly related to gaining weight.
Losing weight as a Diabetic is typically harder, due to the constant use of insulin injection, struggling with highs and lows and figuring out how much and what kind of medication is needed. There are some medications that some Diabetics take such as Metphormin that has been shown to help with weight loss, but for many Diabetics that's not part of their Diabetic management program. Since the weight gain is mainly based on emotions, learning how to manage these emotions is vital. Caloric intake alone will not stop cortisol from promoting fat storage. This is especially true for the pounds that start to show up around the abdominal area.
When you begin to feel overwhelmed removing yourself from the situation, for example taking a walk until you calm down or sitting in the park listening to soft music can help you on many levels. It's important to find a method of relaxation. De stressing will release cortisol, calming you down. The more you can stabilize your emotions, the more it will reflect in your blood sugar readings. When your blood sugar remains stable your weight can then be managed as well and you will find losing weight becomes almost effortless. Realizing that you are the one who has control over your emotions is going to be the way you can help yourself to manage the diabetes and your weight issues at the same time.
Let's face it. You create your life and if it is not what you want, who has more of the ability to change it than anyone? Start with your mind. Isolate what makes you feel sad, stressed, happy, worried and the many other emotions that we go through on a daily basis.
Now You Know! It it Time for Action
This is where the end results that you see can be changed. The human mind is amazing and the things that it is capable of doing are astronomical. It is the mindset that will be hard to conquer, but if you decide the time is now for a change, you will soon realize it is not as difficult as you thought it would be.
Do you struggle with Diabetes? Are you trying to lose weight and gain better sugar control? Are you afraid of losing your eyesight, limbs or end up with hypertension due to your constant high sugars?
